We had a fun-filled morning at our one day holiday club – Easter Eggstravaganza. The children were kept busy decorating biscuits and making Easter garden models complete with moving tomb stones! They enjoyed some Easter themed games, jokes and a number of songs with actions.

In the midst of all the fun, there was a sudden breaking news story that came in. Jesus was dead and had been buried in a stone tomb, a bit like a cave – but now it had been discovered that the tomb was empty! But how is that possible? Has his body been stolen? Did he not really die? Or has he actually come to life? The news reporter interviewed a few eye-witnesses to try to find the answer. One had seen Jesus die amid extraordinary scenes of darkness during the day and the temple curtain tearing in two. A Roman Centurion confirmed that Jesus had really died and Mary Magdalene told how she had arrived at the tomb with some friends, only to find the huge stone that had sealed the tomb, rolled away and Jesus’ body missing. There were other reports telling how others had see Jesus alive again. In fact, they had not only seen him but fished and walked and eaten with him. Jesus really was alive!!

God brought Jesus back to life so that he could live and rule in heaven. That’s where he is today – King Jesus, alive and ruling.
All of these facts today are true and can be found in the Bible. But that’s not all! Because Jesus has beaten death and rose to life again, people who trust in Jesus can be sure that they will live in heaven with him forever after they die. Isn’t that amazing good news?!

Our memory verse for the day was:

“He has risen from death. He is not here.” Mark 16:6

We were joined by lots of parents for our final all together session and were able to share what we had been learning from the bible during the morning. Lots of families stayed for a delicious lunch of hot dogs and ice cream before heading home with Easter goodie bags!
